Situated on 100 acres in northern most York County and just ¼ mile from I-77 is Carowinds, the Carolina's largest amusement center. Each year, Carowinds' rides, shows, restaurants, and concerts entertain over 1 million guests. Carowinds also features a 12 acre water park, campground, and picnic area.

For major professional sports fans, NFL action is close by. The Carolina Panthers, 2003 NFC Champions, play their home games in downtown Charlotte, a short drive from anywhere in York County. The Charlotte Hornets began play in the 2004-05 NBA season and play their home games at Time Warner Cable Arena in Uptown Charlotte.

Professional baseball is also available through the Charlotte Knights, a triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. A prime example of how York County is actually part of a much larger Metrolina region, this team actually plays its home games in the 15,000 seat Knight's Castle located in Fort Mill.

One of the area's most unique multipurpose facilities, the 6,100 seat Winthrop Coliseum stands ready to accommodate a broad spectrum of events-from concerts and athletic contests to trade shows, conventions, and meetings. Its mission is to provide quality event and meeting space complemented by flexibility and value.
